Toshiba Folio 100

Looking for a better way Access the Internet using your Wi-Fi connection? The Toshiba Folio 100 may be the answer! The Folio 100 is Toshiba’s answer to the Apple iPod. While falling short of the iPad in many respects the price tag of about half of what it costs to buy an iPad does make up for some the minor short comings.
The Toshiba Folio 100 is more than just an eReader. This is a full hand held computer with onboard Wi-Fi (802.11), eMail and browser capabilities and full multimedia features.
It was very easy to connect the Folio 100 up to my network and some of the newer models even have the capability to use a SIMMs card to connect to an IP directly. I have found that the page load of the Folio is a bit slower than my laptop, but not enough to be an irritant.
One of the best features of the Folio 100 in respects to internet browsing is its voice recognition ability. Typing search words into the Google search bar works well with the touch screen keypad but the easiest way is to click the voice program button and simply state what you want in the search bar. So far I have been very impressed with the Folios ability to recognize spoken words. If there is any question it gives you a list of possibilities that you can quickly choose from.
The voice recognition also works for imputing data into test boxes. Click on the box, press the microphone button, state what you want in the box and it is added in automatically. Much easier that typing on the touch screen.
I also appreciate the ability to use the touch screen to zoom in on web page details. It even works very well with Google maps. The screen is bright and clear making it easy to read.
The Toshiba Folio 100. If you are in the market for an eReader or hand held tablet computer it’s well worth checking out the Toshiba Folio 100 Specifications before you spring for the much higher priced Apple iPad
